 Itinerary

Friday, April 17, 2009 – Depart from the U.S.A. for South Africa

Day 1:  Saturday, April 18
Arrive in Johannesburg, go through customs, and fly on domestic flight to Cape Town.  Transfer to your hotel. 

Stay at:  Simonstown Quay Side Hotel

 

Day 2:  Sunday, April 19 - Cape Town
Tour of Table Mountain via the Famous Cableway
Wine Tasting at Constantia
Light Lunch at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens
Guided tour of the famous gardens

Stay at: Simonstown Quay Side Hotel                     Dinner: Nyoni Kraal

 

Day 3:  Monday, April 20 – Cape Town
Tour of the Cape Point Region with highlights the famous penguins at The Boulders, a scenic drive through the area including Hout Bay, Chapman’s Peak and an afternoon Walk-With-Baboons tour.

Light lunch at: Flukes Restaurant

Stay at: Simonstown Quay Side Hotel                     Dinner: Simonstown

 

Day 4:  Tuesday, April 21 – Mossel Bay
Depart early for the Garden Route and stop at Dassiesfontein, Swellendam as well as the Allcare Aloe Factory. The local Aloe Ferox is the South African version of the famous Aloe Vera.

Light lunch: (Heidelberg / Riversdal )

Stay at: Diaz Beach Hotel                                         Dinner: Bahia Dos Vaquieros Restaurant

  

Day 5:  Wednesday, April 22 – Mossel Bay
You ”Meet the People” and interact with some of the colorful local people and have a light lunch with Pop and Edith Joubert in Friemersheim, an old German mission station. The afternoon is spent viewing the beautiful wild animals at Garden Route Game Lodge.

Stay at: Diaz Beach Hotel                                         Dinner: Early at Café Serengeti at the Lodge

 

Day 6:  Thursday, April 23 – Mossel Bay
Spend this day in the Arid Klein Karoo where we introduce you to the Ostrich Industry via a guided tour on the Highgate Ostrich Farm. We visit the Cango Wildlife Ranch for a tour of the facility including the Big Cats, Crocodiles and many more. Here you have the opportunity to get up close to a croc by doing a Crocodile Cage Dive as an optional extra. Also you have a similar option of touching a cheetah or Bengal Tiger. This day also includes a wine tasting and tasting of Buchu Brandy. Buchu is a wild medicinal herb used for centuries in both the Boer and black cultures and is indigenous to South Africa.

Day 7:  Friday, April 24 – Mossel Bay
A morning at leisure in Mossel Bay, the sun trap of Africa, leaving you time to catch up with family via e-mail, Skype etc, shopping, spending time on the beach.  The afternoon will be another ”Meet the People” experience with a few more interesting cultural experiences.

Light lunch at Baruch Coffee Roaster and Israeli Cuisine

Stay at: Diaz Beach Hotel                                         Dinner:  Kingfisher Restaurant (Seafood)

 

Day 8:  Saturday, April 25 – Garden Route
Travel along the beautiful Garden Route to Port Elizabeth, stopping along the way to visit a cheetah rehabilitation center.

Light lunch : Tsitsikamma National Park

Stay at: Kelway Hotel, PE                                           Dinner: Port Elizabeth

 

Day 9:  Sunday, April 26 – Addo Elphant Park
Spend a great day game viewing at Addo Elephant Park.

Light lunch at Addo

Stay at:  Kelway Hotel                                                 Dinner: Port Elizabeth

 

Day 10:  Monday, April 27 – Kruger National Park
Fly out of Port Elizabeth to Johannesburg. Transfer to the Protea Hotel Kruger Gate.

Stay at: Protea Hotel Kruger Gate                             Dinner: Protea Hotel Kruger Gate

 

Day 11:  Tuesday, April 28 – Kruger National Park
Early wake-up, enjoy a cup of coffee before heading into the Kruger National Park.  Enjoy a full day’s game viewing and have the chance to see the BIG FIVE (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo). Also enjoy the abundant bird life.  Breakfast stop in the park.

Light lunch in the park.

Day 12:  Wednesday, April 29 - Kruger National Park
Enjoy another day game viewing in the Kruger Park.

Light lunch in the park.

Day 13:  Thursday, April 30 - Kruger National Park
Enjoy another day game viewing in the Kruger Park.

Light lunch in the park.

Day 14:  Friday, May 1 – Depart for the U.S.A.
A morning at leisure. Transfer to Oliver Tambo International Airport,Johannesburg.  Depart South Africa for your flight home.

 

Saturday, May 2, 2009 – Arrive back in the U.S.A. from South Africa
